Why we are “all in” about All-on-4 dental implants for full-arch tooth replacement

At All About Beautiful Smiles, many of our patients in Orlando, Florida, and beyond are “all in” about All on 4! This revolutionary system allows many individuals who might otherwise not be good candidates for dental implants to benefit from this exceptional form of modern tooth replacement. Our talented dentist, Dr. Tejumade St. Matthew-Daniel, can handle every step in the process from our office, a true “one-stop” for specialty dentistry services (without the specialists’ price tag).

How All-on-4 replaces all teeth

Candidates for this type of dental implant service generally need to replace all teeth in at least one dental arch. The arch is the curved part of your mouth that “houses” the teeth. On average, there are 16 permanent teeth in each of the two arches.

Implants function as tooth roots; however, thanks to the All-on-Four system, we do not need to place one implant to support or “root” each and every prosthetic tooth. And, in fact, we do not need to place all 16 teeth. A typical All-on-4 arch might be made up of anywhere from 10 to 14 teeth. This is sufficient to create a complete set of teeth for the upper or lower jaw or arch.

As its name suggests, all it may take to support a full arch of new and brilliantly beautiful teeth is four implants. This is possible due to Dr. St. Matthew-Daniel’s precision and strategic positioning of each implant. The implants are surgically placed in ways that make the most of available bone. So, they may even be appropriate for individuals with existing bone loss. With “standard” implant systems, a bone graft is needed to build up the bone in the jaw. Only then can the jawbone support the implant properly.

All-on-4 is, instead, a “graft-less” procedure. Our patients with bone loss do not have to undergo another invasive procedure to enjoy the multitude of benefits that stem from the unique design of implant prostheses.

All patients who benefit from this system also enjoy less time in the treatment chair, as well as a more affordable treatment because a minimal number of implants are placed. With the prosthetic (denture) connected and stabilized in the jawbone by as few as four implants, our patients’ confidence, pride in their smile, chewing and speaking ability, and other functions and aspects of their lives soar and are transformed! Our doctor can even apply the denture during the same appointment that she places the implants in and extract any remaining teeth that may need to be removed for an immediate tooth replacement.

When would someone not be a good candidate for all-on-fours?

The only scenario when someone might not be a good candidate for all-on-fours is when they have had a lot of bone loss, particularly if they have been without teeth for a long time.

What steps are involved in an all-on-four procedure?

The All-on-Four procedure involves several steps, beginning with an initial visit where you will meet our team and familiarize yourself with the office. This is an opportunity for you to get comfortable with the team and be introduced to the technology we use. Our approach heavily relies on advanced AI technology, which is designed to tailor your new smile specifically to your features, rather than providing a generic set of teeth.

During your visit, we conduct a thorough assessment, which includes scanning your face and taking intraoral pictures (images of the inside of your mouth). We also perform a CT scan to plan your surgery meticulously. On the day of surgery, our goal is to ensure your comfort throughout the process. This procedure is often referred to as “teeth in a day” or “teeth in 24 hours,” thanks to the efficiency of modern technology. This technology allows us to design a smile that is uniquely yours, taking into account your facial features – such as your nose, mouth, eyes, ears, and hairline – to ensure a perfect fit.

After the surgery, you will have time to rest at home. The following day, you return to our office, where we will fit your new, transformational smile. This advanced approach ensures a smile that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also specifically designed for your individual facial structure.

What anesthesia options will be available to me for my all-on-four procedure?

The anesthesia options available for your all-on-four procedure include anesthesia in your mouth, a pill to help relax you, and some nitrous gas for further relaxation.

How long does it take to heal from getting all-on-four dental implants?

For your all-on-four, it takes about two weeks to start feeling comfortable again. After about eight to ten weeks, you can start eating softer foods, and in about four months, you can start eating whatever you like.

How long do all-on-fours last?

All-on-fours can last your lifetime. However, this largely depends on your home care. Maintenance is a crucial aspect of your new All-on-Four dental implants. To ensure their longevity and optimal performance, we recommend that you visit our office 2 to 3 times a year for professional maintenance and cleaning. Additionally, we provide tools and guidance for at-home care. During your visits, we will discuss the best practices for maintaining your implants, ensuring that your new smile remains in excellent condition.

What is the cost to receive all-on-four dental implants?

The cost of the All-on-Four treatment varies, as it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. We offer different types of All-on-Four implants, including semi-fixed and fully fixed options. The fully fixed option, known as PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), is a more affordable entry into the All-on-Four treatment. Additionally, we offer zirconia implants, which represent the top-tier All-on-Four option.

The price of each type of implant differs, and we ensure that during your visit, you receive a comprehensive overview of each option. This includes an explanation of what each type of implant entails and their respective costs. This way, you can make an informed decision about which All-on-Four treatment best suits your needs and budget.

Will insurance help cover the cost of all-on-fours?

Insurance doesn’t typically cover all-on-four. However, we’re here to assist you in maximizing whatever benefits you have.
